Google’s Edge Network team needed to redesign their existing B2B Web Application that helped ISPs get traffic to and from users, smarter and faster. The focus was to simplify and improve the user experience so that people of all technical levels could find value from the product. We also needed to anticipate future scale in terms of functionality and complexity

After the wireframes were approved, I helped mold a custom design for the new product. At this time, material design was slowly being introduced internally in a few of Google’s products. I had the opportunity to help steer the new UI using material design elements, while not having to adopt it completely. This allowed the product to still feel part of the cohesive Google brand while maintaining a unique, custom look and feel.
Working on projects with Alec I was impressed by his combination of aesthetic sense blended with a clear understanding of current industry design trends. As a result he was able to propose an interface that was simple to use, while maintaining its deep technical complexities. Alec continued to deliver on the predefined schedule and was quick to make revisions, often incorporating alternative ideas.
